What is Long-Term Care?
Long-term care facilities are governed by legislated standards and government regulations. Licensing by the Province and regular inspections by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care ensure quality care in the programs and services provided by long-term care facilities. Facilities are required to post and/or make available the Facility Review Summary Reports to families and to current and prospective residents. Long-term care facilities provide services necessary to persons needing care that can no longer be provided in the community.
Services provided in long-term care facilities include:
- Nursing and personal care
- Secure floor/area for cognitively impaired residents
